Little history on the Afternoon Tea Time

Afternoon Tea Time is an English social event to be sitting down for an afternoon tea accompanied by treats like finger sandwiches, scones, jams, tea cookies and more. A variety of home made cakes and pastries are a must, with a range of delicious teas. Afternoon tea is usually served between 3 to 5 pm to fill the gap between the 2 main meals.  Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford started this tradition when she invited over some friends for a late afternoon tea and some light snacks. This summer practice proved so popular that the Duchess continued it when she returned to London, sending cards to her friends asking them to join her for “tea and a walking the fields.”
